Our dark sweet and yellow cherries are recognised throughout the world for their sweetness, firmness, and consistency in colour. Here are some of the leading cherry varieties grown in the Pacific Northwest region, available from June all the way through the summer.

CHELAN®

Available throughout the month of June.

 

Color: Mahogany-Red

Flavor/Texture: Sweet, rich flavor (16-18% fruit sugar) / Firm

 

The Chelan variety is an early-ripening sweet cherry from the Pacific Northwest. They have a sweet, rich flavour and a lovely firm texture.

 

Chelan® cherries have a unique roundness to them giving way to a heart-shape.

TIETON™

Available throughout the month of June.

 

 

Color: Mahogany-Red

Flavor/Texture: Mild (16-18% fruit sugar) / Firm

 

 

Another early ripening cherry that is extraordinarily large in size.

 

With excellent firmness and a mild sweet flavour. Tieton™ is a glossy mahogany-red cherry.

SANTINA™

Available throughout the month of June.

 

Color: Dark Red
Flavor/Texture: Fair / Firm

 

An early variety that is dark to almost black in colour. It has a unique flattened heart shape, and the skin is extremely shiny.

 

As it is a newer variety it has limited availability.

EARLY ROBIN

Available throughout the month of June.

 

Color: Yellow & Red mix
Flavor/Texture: Fair / Firm

 

This cherry variety is quite like Rainier cherries. It is usually available earlier than the Rainier cherry.

 

This means customers can enjoy a yellow fleshed cherry earlier in the season.

BENTON

Available mid-June/mid-July

 

Color: Dark Red
Flavor/Texture: Strong / Firm

 

A mid-season. dark red cherry that closely resembles the Bing variety. This large cherry has excellent firmness with superior flavour.

 

This cherry was developed at WSU Prosser Research Center. As it is a newer variety it has limited availability.

BING

Available mid-June/mid-August

 

Color: Deep Mahogany-red
Flavor/Texture: Sweet, rich flavor (17-19% fruit sugar) / Firm

 

The leading and best-known sweet cherry in North America. The Bing originated in Milwaukee, Oregon in 1847.

 

They are firm, juicy & sweet and have a deep mahogany-red colour.

Flavor/Texture: Rich flavor / Firm

 

A firm large mahogany red cherry that has great flavour and is of good quality.

 

This late season variety is known for its large size.

Available mid-June/end of July

 

Color: Yellow with Red blush
Flavor/Texture: Delicate & Sweet / Firm

 

A very attractive exceptionally large yellow cherry with a red blush. Rainiers have a distinctive and vibrant appearance among sweet cherry varieties.

 

The cherry provides a delicate sweet flavour. It’s unique flesh is pure yellow, very firm and a fine texture.

SKEENA™

Available early July/mid August

 

Color: Dark Red
Flavor/Texture: Sweet / Very Firm

 

This variety is large, sweet, and extremely firm. Skeena™ continues to grow in popularity with consumers and growers alike.

 

This dark red to almost black sweet cherry variety has a firm texture. It is a great late-season variety.

SWEETHEART™

Available mid-July/mid-August

 

Color: Deep Red
Flavor/Texture: Mild / Firm

 

This variety is a medium to large sized, heart-shaped sweet cherry that is deep red in colour.

 

The Sweetheart™ has a mild, sweet flavour with outstanding firmness.

Sweetheart Cherries

REGINA™

Available late June/late July

 

Color: Dark Red
Flavor/Texture: Sweet / Firm

 

A popular dark red cherry that is fairly large. Reginas™ have a firm texture and sweet for this variety.
